Senegal Beat Morocco 1–0 in Extra Time to Win 2025 AFCON Title
Senegal have been crowned champions of Africa again after edging hosts Morocco 1–0 in a dramatic AFCON 2025 final in Rabat.
The tense showdown at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium ended goalless in regulation time, but Pape Gueye struck early in extra time to hand the Teranga Lions a historic victory and their second Africa Cup of Nations crown.
Senegal looked the more dangerous side in the first half, with goalkeeper Yassine Bounou denying close chances, while Morocco struggled to create clear openings before the break and failed to register a shot on target in the opening 45 minutes.

The match became chaotic in stoppage time when Senegal had a late goal ruled out, and Morocco were awarded a penalty after VAR review. Senegal briefly protested and stepped off the pitch, but they returned after Sadio Mané calmed the situation. Brahim Díaz missed the penalty with a failed Panenka as Edouard Mendy made a crucial save.
In extra time, Senegal finally broke through as Pape Gueye fired past Bounou, and despite late pressure, Morocco could not find an equaliser. The result extends Morocco’s long wait for a second AFCON title since 1976, while Senegal celebrate another major continental triumph.
